Moving Toward Fifth-Dimensional Awareness by Julie Redstone.
It was not too long ago that scientists spoke about space and time as two separate things. The contributions of Einstein in the first part of the last century changed that. Increasingly since then, space and time have been referred to by physicists as the ‘space-time continuum‘.
Whereas space, prior to this, was considered to have three dimensions, Einstein’s contribution gave rise to a four-dimensional concept that included time1. This continuum was likened by Einstein and later by others to a sheet of rubber that can expand and contract, curl or lie flat, affected by the displacement of matter in a way that science is still coming to understand.
The nature of space and time or ‘space-time’ is still in a stage of theoretical unfoldment, yet even now, almost a century after Einstein’s revolutionary presentation of the new theory, most people still have difficulty picturing physical reality as four-dimensional, and a five-dimensional reality seems even further away.
As an abstract concept, the ‘space-time continuum’ is more of a mathematical idea than an image – one that does not readily lend itself to easy contemplation, especially when we try to picture ourselves as living within it. For this reason, it is helpful to seek the support of metaphor as we try to do so.
Einstein’s metaphor for space-time was the ‘rubber sheet‘ mentioned above. In trying to locate ourselves within this metaphor, we either have to think of ourselves as part of the rubber sheet itself, or, we can expand the metaphor and think of the rubber sheet as having an inside and an outside with an empty space in between – a layer of space in which we live. If we picture this layer as containing all the physical universe that we presently know, we will come closer to imagining what most of us conceive of as three-dimensional space, for this space has boundaries of perception that we cannot exceed as three-dimensional beings, except as our evolving consciousness allows us to.
The interior layer of the rubber sheet, then, is where we live. It is a bounded universe of perception, though not a bounded universe in reality. If we take this bounded layer of the physical and shift from picturing an interior layer of a rubber sheet to, instead, picturing the interior of a sphere, or better yet, of a doughnut that contains a world of small people running around inside, we will have a closer approximation of what three-dimensional space might feel like to someone inside the doughnut, and what this same space might look like to someone outside the doughnut.
To the inhabitants of the doughnut, movement in all directions is possible until you hit the boundary of the doughnut which is the boundary of three-dimensional space and of physical reality. This is not a real boundary, but a boundary of perception. However, since this is the only world that the inhabitants of the doughnut know, they perceive themselves to be free to move in all directions. They do not perceive the boundary. From the perspective of someone outside the doughnut, however, life inside the doughnut can be perceived as a doughnut-shaped layer of reality – the inhabitants sealed within that layer, unaware that there is anything beyond it.
To carry the metaphor further, let us picture that inside the doughnut there are three dimensions of space and one dimension of time within which we freely move, thinking that this is all there is. However, to one outside the doughnut, it appears that the entire doughnut we live in exists within another larger doughnut – a layer of Creation that contains the smaller layer and is five-dimensional rather than four. This five-dimensional layer also exists within other layers that have higher numbers of dimensions. Each of the doughnut-shaped layers is contained within a higher-dimensional, more inclusive layer. Each layer penetrates the layers within it yet is not perceived as doing so, since to the inhabitants of the three–dimensional doughnut, the three-dimensional-space is all that can normally be seen and felt.
In trying to expand our awareness to this multi–dimensional space in which we actually live, most of us are able to return to early learning, remembering how one, two, and three dimensions operate. The simple description for this arrangement is that one-dimensional space can be thought of as a line, two-dimensionality as a flat surface, and three-dimensionality as a cube that has length, width, and height. To imagine four-dimensional space, we might imagine ourselves moving in time through three-dimensional space, though as stated above, this would not be an exact picture of four-dimensional space which joins ‘space-time’ into one larger whole. Within four-dimensional space, we are at a particular location in physical space at a particular time.
To try to imagine five-dimensional space from this three-dimensional perspective is generally not possible. The fifth dimension or layer of Creation is not spatial nor is it temporal. Rather, it is a dimension that brings space-time into relationship with the timeless and eternal. Fifth-dimensional ‘space’ and the awareness that accompanies it creates a movement of consciousness rather than a movement on the physical plane. This movement allows us to begin to perceive the unity of life and matter because we are moving within a higher plane. And just as we would if we physically ascended a mountain, as we move into higher dimensions, we have access to a broader view of what reality really is. Within this broader view, things are not as separate as they are within three-dimensional reality. The one who is ‘me’ and the one who is ‘you’ are not so far apart, in fact, they may not be apart at all.
To understand movement within a ‘plane of consciousness‘, think of dreaming. In dreams, we can do things that are not normally possible in physical life. We can see the same thing from different perspectives. We can be two places at the same time. We can move in ways that are not possible in three-dimensional space, and time itself often has an altogether different quality. Dreaming gives us an illustration of what a ‘movement in consciousness’ might be like.
Multi-dimensional space, like dreaming, is a ‘consciousness-space’ – one which we, for the most part, are not accustomed to, unless we have had non-ordinary experiences which have taken us into these other realms. Dreaming, for most, is the closest approximation. The Kabbalah and its Tree of Life, the ten Sephiroth,2,3 can be a spiritual guide for us within this multi-dimensional space, as can other holistic models of the universe4 and of Creation which serve the same purpose. Although the Sephiroth do not correspond exactly to dimensions, they do describe a model of the spiritual-physical universe in which Light and energy descend progressively from the Godhead into the world of matter. In doing so, they create pathways through which forces of Creation emanating from the Godhead can direct energy toward lower states of expression and manifestation. The route or passage of this energetic descent results in the divinization5 and layering of the spiritual-physical universe into gradations of spiritual energy and Light.
We, in our three or four-dimensional doughnut are at the lowest end of the spectrum of Light and energy. We have lived within this frame of reference so long that we are accustomed to thinking that it is all there is. But it is not all there is. We have access in our consciousness to all that is ‘above’, for what is ‘above’ is also within. The metaphoric doughnut-layers containing higher-order dimensionality penetrate the layer we exist in at all times.
Similarly, the emanations of Divine light coming from the Godhead penetrate every layer of Creation and infuse our life without our knowing it. And whether there are ten layers as the Kabbalah indicates and as String Theory suggests, or a different number of layers (dimensions) as other theories would have us believe, we, in any case, are evolving in consciousness along with the earth into a greater capacity to experience what has previously been inaccessible to our awareness.
This evolution of consciousness will inevitably take us into five-dimensional awareness and beyond – beyond the confines of our bounded ‘doughnut’. For five-dimensional awareness is nothing less than the loss of the sense of separateness from others and from the universe in which we live. This loss of separateness takes place in the presence of expanding light and creates an experience of the Divine within all – a perspective in which distinctions between self and other, between matter and spirit, and even between life and death can fade into the background. Within fifth-dimensional awareness, individualized consciousness still remains, but the sense of estrangement and isolation from life does not.
Linked with this shift in awareness is a movement away from exclusive reliance on our mind and five senses to define reality, toward a new awareness of infused Light linking all within a vibration of love. It is the physical senses and their biological structure which have supported and made possible the perception of subject and object, self and other.
Fifth-dimensional consciousness is already present for some, and there are many others who are awakening to it even now while the greater shift has not yet occurred. Yet for most, the sense of separation between ‘me’ and ‘you’ and the need to protect ‘me’ from ‘you’ still predominates in an atmosphere where the experience of unity has not yet directly been felt.
Fifth-dimensional awareness will change this situation and the morality that accompanies it. When all is seen to be connected with all, then a morality that is based not on self-preservation but on concern for the welfare of the whole will prevail. When there is no difference between ‘your’ interest and ‘my’ interest, then the foundation for peace can be laid within each individual consciousness.
The advent of this shift has already arrived, creating a foreshadowing of a way of being on the planet that is based in love, not self-protection – one that seeks to serve the good of all, rather than the desires of self. Such a movement has God at the center by whatever name God is called, for the movement itself does not belong to any nation, religious tradition, or group.
As we, collectively, move into fifth-dimensional awareness, the possibility for resolving the dire conflicts that have beset the world will, for the first time, become credible, and hope for a peaceful future will, for the first time, become a real hope, based in a foundation of truth.

are there ways to get to fifth-dimensional awareness quicker and develop a plane of consciousness faster?
I have been discussing and debating this idea of the fifth and greater dimensions in a Scriptural forum.
Some of what is written here is almost a carbon copy of what I came up with and put to the other posters, however, few could understand.
I showed how It is not possible for a physical body to exist in the fifth dimension but only Spirit, intelligent thought, as is shown here.
The fifth dimension requires that an enormous expenditure of energy be applied to the fourth dimensional body, demonstrated by the need for the LHC setup.
On transfer, from the fourth dimension, the body disappears into every point in the fourth dimensional universe, hence is EVERYWHERE at the same time. Loss of energy brings it back down to the fourth dimension and, hopefully, in a different position. But since this kind of collision change is not ‘Intelligent’, the recovered position would more than likely be the same and therefore not be perceived by a fourth dimensional observer. Maybe, at the most, the body disappears and reappears in the ‘twinkling of an eye’.
Perhaps Shroedinger’s cat decided to move in that time…
The upshot of all this is that an Intelligent body accessing the fifth dimension could down again at ANY LOCATION it chose, hence, how did the Legion of Demons move in an instance from the mad man to the pigs who were a far off in the distance? And Jesus appearing inside a locked room?
Sorry for those who don’t read Scriptures but it seems that sometimes Science and Scriptures both agree!
Hi Justin,
I’d really like to hear more about what you have studied. Have you written anything about the 5th dimension and scripture that you could email me?
I’m trying to deal with a spiritual issue and, as a Christian, I’m convinced that the answer has to be somewhere in the Bible.
Thanks,
Christie.
Hi Christies,
Thanks for your response and interest.
There is nothing explicit in the Scriptures about Dimensions but much can be gleaned from ‘between the lines’.
It has been inferred that in the beginning all the Angels knew of God’s plan for the earth and mankind because all were trusted and had access to God’s thoughts.
But when Satan sinned the sinning angels were removed from the presence of God and thrown down to a lower level.
They were still Spirits, and therefore were still ‘in Heaven’ but not knowledgeable of God’s thoughts and plans. They only know as much as they knew before their fall. But even this is an incredible amount!
So, how are they NOT in the presence of God?
Most people reading the Scriptures assume their is only one Heaven, the abode of God. But Scriptures alludes to different stations occupied by different ranks of angels: Jude 1:6 tells what happened to the angels who left their stations in the days of Noah and procreated with human females. What are these Stations? Clearly not all angels are the same; Michael, is said to be the Captain of the Army Horde of the Angels of God, and, one of the Chief Princes; Gabriel proudly claims to be one who stands in the presence of God, a very noble position obviously!
So, the fallen angels, called Demons, inhabited, in a spirit-wise way, lower levels of Heaven. Could we call these: Dimensions…and how many are there?
I reckon on Seven. And here is my thinking:
The first four are the physical dimensions: Length, Breadth, Width and Time.
A single entity exists in this Space-Time dimension moving by means of a natural, or, an intelligent force. The intelligence force being the Spirit of or in the entity.
But this entity can only move in contiguous motion, one contiguous position to another, and this is natural to us. If I want to move from my arm, I expect to have control, in unit time, of every position and transition towards the target position for my arm so as to avoid anything that might cause a problem during the transition, or, if the target position cannot be achieved during the expected transition period… This is a very necessary way of transitioning a BODY of Matter – but what if the intelligence did not have a Body? Is contiguous movement still required? No. Why?
Well, in the fifth dimension no physical body can exist because in the Scientific, not the Mathematical, fifth dimension, the intelligent entity can exists, potentially, in ANY physical position AT ANY ONE UNIT MOMENT OF TIME.
What does this mean: it means that an immaterial entitity, or intelligence from the fifth dimension can appear in the lower fourth dimension at any position it chooses: the Mad man (men) in the cave was invaded by a Legion of demons: how did they all occupy his one physical body? They are Spirit, immaterial, do not require physical space, so thousands can exist ‘On the head of a Pin!’ (How many radio stations can you get on the tiniest radio receiver?)
Now, the demons thought that Jesus had come to destroy them. They knew of their demise but thought that Jesus had come to torment them, that is, condemn that to a spiritual wilderness. After all, they were ‘enjoying life’ in the fourth dimension in the body of the physical flesh man but had no access to any higher dimensions where they could enjoy the pleasure of God’s presence.
So, the demons pleaded with Jesus to go into the pigs who were away off in the distance. How did they, thousands of them, move from inside the man, to pigs – in an instance, in the twinkling of an eye? Well, the fifth dimension allows the intelligence, the demons angels in this instance, to be in any fourth dimensional space, non-continuously, from one unit time to another, so as simple as a fourth dimensional entity moves from one (contiguous) position to another, the fifth dimensional entity can move from any one position to another (non-contiguous) position…that non-contiguous position can be ANYWHERE…inches, feet, yards, furlongs, miles, kilometres, megometers, clicks, parsecs…doesn’t matter! The pigs were a distance away, why was this mentioned in the Scriptures? Nothing is written there for no reason!
This idea of ‘appearing where it will’, physical barriers are no constraint: Walls, doors, water, fire, cold…are no problem to Spirit because these physical things only affect physical bodies. Jesus went off through the fifth dimension out of sight of his disciples who were stumped, left looking up into the sky… This was miraculous to them – yet the two angels who appeared by said, ‘men of Galilee, why do you stand her looking up into the sky. This same Jesus will come again in like manner…’ . The Angels were astonished that the Disciples were astonished!! Just as Flatlander man might be astonished that a 3D man can disappear by moving left or right of him (Flatlander: ask if you don’t know or google it).
How did Jesus appear inside a locked room where the Disciples were congregated? How did Jesus appear with the two men walking along the road to Jerusalem, or the Angels appearing to myriad persons, and they all disappearing just as simply?
Chistie, I hope this is understandable.
And the sixth dimension: the entity can be in ALL physical positions at the SAME Time.
And the Seventh dimension: the entity can be in ALL Physical Positions at ALL TIMES (Past, Presence, Future) – The abode of God!!!
This is amazing!!! I literally thought of some of this today while at school. I randomely went to the book store to “kill some time”, and stumbled upon a logic testing book or something and turned to a page talking about dimensions and “flatlanders.” Flat landers made me think of old nintendo games that the character “Mario” existed only in 2 dimensions. I thought to myself, if mario were intelligent, as are humans, would he perceive that his two dimensional realm was all that existed? For instance, most people believe in only what they can perceive with their five senses. So if Mario followed this line of “logic” he would be incorrect as humans are in their belief that nothing else exists outside of their four dimensional realm. So my understanding is that a 5th dimensional reality would not be a slave to the same laws that applied to lower dimensions..
Obviously, by the comments, some of you are much more knowledgeable about the theory of 5th and greater dimensional realms than I. So if anyone has the time to discuss any of this and help aid in my understanding I would greatly appreciate it.. If any of my thinking is flawwed, feel free to correct me. Later guys.
Thank you for a very available explain the essence of the multidimensional space. I’m trying to learn the benefits of the fifth dimension in meditation and it was interesting to read your opinion.
Julie, With Scriptural references, a Christian I guess you’ll be, but if you wouldn’t mind, I’ll like you to tell me about your religion. …This is great work. I do not have much understanding into this things but I’m really fascinated by your explanations, especially with reference to the Bible. Please I’ll like you to throw more light on the fourth dimension for me, having to do with what happens there, and details on how to function there, and what you refer to by TIME and the likes. Like I said earlier, I do not have much understanding into it, but you can end by chipping your explanation into the 5th Dim., so I can the differences well. Thank You.
the very fact that any of you are on this website shows me that a higher level of light is leading each and every one of you in the path chosen for you to be. I love to see groups of people moving to a more full level of capacity of themselves. Using more of our doughnut brains than the normal 5% usage. Who knows…maybe this is also how jesus turned water into wine…Way past the law of physics.. Transformed by the renewing of your minds. Transformed comes from the Greek word “metamorphoo”…Wow metamorphasis, cocoon to butterfly…..I AM there, I AM here. …NOW …THEN
Hello, during my studies I stumbled across your site and I must say it is truly refreshing. When you made the statement…”When all is seen to be connected with all, then a morality that is based not on self-preservation but on concern for the welfare of the whole will prevail. When there is no difference between ‘your’ interest and ‘my’ interest, then the foundation for peace can be laid within each individual consciousness.”
This was really powerful. I believe this was the goal of Jesus Christ, and his apostles and prophets. Not to control and dominate peoples ability to think because of our own personal insecurities.
The consciousness of what you shared and the things your audience have so brilliantly articulated is really amazing.
As long as we only have a taste for just doughnuts we will never really appreciated a spinach Florentine bagel.
In the resurrection from the dead Jesus Christ opened the door to the unlimited power of His divinity. It took some 40days for even His apostles to understand the access to His creation via His resurrection.
But on the day of Pentecost they understood. Unfortunately man shows up again and again and try to control the minds of the people with their biases drowning out the message of the Gospel.
Until we have a mind to see God big in all we will never be able to see God at all.
Thanks for listening
Apostle
The fifth dimension in short:
You are sitting reading this message. You are in the fourth dimension – your perception is that of the fourth dimension.
You can move your 3 dimensional body in any 2 dimensional plane along a 1 dimensional path.
But more… You can move different parts of your body along different 1 dimensional paths – at the SAME TIME … Are you shocked? Of course not – it’s NATURAL!
Hey, you want to go into the kitchen from your bedroom – what do you do – how do you do it?
You THINK where you want to be – then you plan out in 3 dimensional space how each and every major part of your 3D body will move through 3D space AND TIME to negotiate the cumbersome and complexed 3D world around you.
Time and motion in time get you to the kitchen for that Cookie and drink!
Ok, is there a quicker easier way? Yes.. The first words ‘Think’… Think where you want to be – and you ARE THERE! (but it will be in linear time – it will still take a micro moment of time)
How? Dispense with the body (Actual that is self defeating if you wanted cookies and drink as the bodiless wouldn’t need it – but let’s just take it as it seems for now – there’s still a little bit of thought in the fleshly desire)
By shedding the 3D body that needs to be kept together – moved together from one contiguous position to another in a single contiguous unit of time, the SPIRIT of the body is freed to the 5th Dimension where it can move non-contiguously from ANY 3D position – or space – to ANY OTHER 3D position – or space – in any single contiguous unit of time.
You should now see that you just thought ‘I want to be in the kitchen’ – and you are there! But you are in SPIRIT Still! So why the need for cookies?
Well, here is the hard part to take… You ACQUIRE YOUR BODY that was in your room dissolved as Energy into the 5th Dimensional ether and re-Solved back as flesh back in the 4th/3rd Dimensional Physicsl world.
Sorry, is this too much? Well Flatlander man would equally say ‘Impossible’ when you told him that you could move to his left in a moment of time. He would have to do a full circuit of his world moving incrementally to his left to get there – incredible – to him!
Every elemental particle of your body simultaneously shifted one unit of contiguous space to the left – and you disappeared from Flatlander’s eyesight.
Do we not ‘Think’ where we want to be (or simply where our finger should be typing on the keyboard) and we are there – every elemental particle of our being moved from point A to point B in 3D space and Unit time (4th Dimension).
Sadly, and happily for fleshly humans – we cannot THINK ourselves into 5th Dimensional space – this would have produced the long sort after ‘Hyperspace Drive system’ which every science fiction fan knows requires a HUGE amount of energy. And that is EXACTLY RIGHT.
Therefore a real human flesh and blood body could not occupy 5th Dimensional space – every Molecule, Atom, Quark, String of the body would have to be ripped apart and re-Assembled again at the new location. The energy required to do that is beyond the normal human ability to create (Remember: E=MC^2. ‘C^2′ is the square of the Speed of Light – and we can’t even reach the single speed of light even now …!)
I disagree with the assumption that a line is 1 dimensional, the way I see it, the existence of a single point is 1 dimensional, meaning a line is 2 dimensional, a geometric shape is 3 dimensional, an object 4 dimensional and a living 5 dimensional. The real discussion should be on the existence of a 6th dimension. Speaking of which, what if life itself is a dimension, it seems completely unexplainable by any other means as far as I can tell, though what would a 5-dimensional being like me know. We have physical mass because we exist in the first 4 dimensions, and we change and move because of time, though I prefer to see time as 2 dimensions, Chaos and Order, Chaos allowing for one thing to exist in different forms, and Order. So, I believe there are sets of dimensions, the first being Existence, Delineation, Reference and Depth in that order, and the second being Chaos, Order and Perception, with the ability to perceive being the significant factor that denotes life, and humanity being separated from the animal kingdom due to the fact we pertain to Chaos, thus conflicting with Order. Anyway, was just writing this as I thought of it, so probably not well articulated or theoretically sound, but I’ve got homework to do which is supposedly far more important than the nature of existence.
Order was meant as in chronology. Also, as far as Flatman is concerned, we are equally incapable of perceiving what it would like to be in lower dimensions as we are of existing in higher ones. If you looked at him ‘side-on’ Flatman would be literally invisible, and just imagine trying to push him over….
Hi, my name is Mason Lees, and i was quite excited when i found this site as i have not been able to get this theory out of my head after my friend metioned it to me the other day. I’m Fifteen years old and would like to major in somthing along the lines of astronomy, quantam physics, etc. I would just like to check if what i have retained from the article is correct, or theoretically correct.
So there are the four base dimensions, us living on the fourth. In theory there is a fifth dimension that can only be acessed on a spiritual or conscious level. Which even if existed, could only be reached by exerting an enormous amount of energy and leaving our body behind as all energy that is borrowed from nature must be returned to nature, or we may choose to change into the fifth dimension for a short period of time so as to only let our body breakdown and reform in another area in a fraction of a second so we can come back to it,in simple teleportation.
I am greatly fascinated by this topic and would be very much appreciative if i could recieve a reply, i also wonder why this is not a more recognisable theory, i mean it all makes sense, its relativity with the bible and numerous other cases, Cheers… Mason
awesome that a fifteen year old would have so much insight, keep on seeking and you will find
Many quantum physicists say that there are at least 11 dimensions but there is the possibility of an infinite number. I believe that some ascended souls among us can perceive certain dimensions that others do not, but how would they explain them to those of us who are not yet ready? It would be like trying to explain to someone who has no sight what the color purple looks like. Living by your heart is the key to unlocking these mystical doors.
informative
I read and quickley got rid of all the biblical stuff, comments. surley the 5th dimention is not in the cult teachings, or cults teachings, the freedom from all them as a reality is what I personally fing freeing and it is less burdonsome to be able to try to comperhend what may or might be available to enter into my consionsness,
I was reading in a mag about the fifth dimention and decided to google it, I am very interested in spiritual things and can not belive I have just read everything that has been writen here and found it awesome, I am 58 years young and look forward to lots more comments on the subject, I have no exam passes, I am not studing anything, just trying to understand things I see that I know are not from this world or should I say dimention, how do I know they are not? I don’t know, I just do. Thank you for reading this and blessings to you all.
Read the life of Padre Pio, he had the ability to transport in our generation. I believe in spiritual transport as stated above. Thanks for listening The book Outwitting the devil just published got me to this sight. Would like to find out how to stay in the 5th longer n what triggers the spiritual to transport…
Math is wrong, all measuring instruments are ‘off’ – see Oliver Humpage explain it. Math is SUBJECTIVE, not global, earth isn;t even round!
You don’t know how right you actually are. I have a proof that consciousness is actually the fifth dimension. It’s too involved for a short comment, but I’d like to share it with you via e-mail (pdf) if you’d like.
Jan H.
Jan,
You are close to the truth – Consciousness IS the Spirit. And so, Yes, in the fifth dimension only the Spirit exists… Physical property cannot exist in the fifth dimension.
Kalli,
Maths cannot adequately describe the fifth Dimension – for real. It has to use Physical Identification (Symbolic) language to describe it and “Imaginary Numbers” to write it down.
A Mathematical Model can be created to describe a Fifth Dimensional object – but – it could never be actually created (Drawn on paper as a two dimensional drawing – yes…) Think of the perpetual staircase, or the inside-out three pronged object thing.
hi.. How interesting the 5th dimension subject .. I was into law of attraction etc.. And while practicing it, I stumbled into this place whichbis actually inside if my head. It has a really nice vibration, colors ( purple , yellow n orange). While there, I realize that all that is to everything lies there. Its a magical experience… Some say that ive travelled into the divine sours. There I felt complete n relief… The feeling of all questions were answered. Does anyone have such experience? Would you share on how or ways the way to get there from time to time?… Cud it be the 5 th dimension?
tq
I proudly say that your comments and surshes has helped me alot to understanding the 5th dimensions and I have insecticides to know more about it… I will try to make more resurshes about this incredible dimension and add them later on this webside:D G.L.
Here is my two cents: There are many ways to view this, in physics, as well as spirituality. Within Tantra, everything is “spanda” – pulsating vibration of alternating contraction and expansion. All vibration is energy, from the same Source, One Consciousness. Scientifcally, it is already proven that everything; matter, thoughts, intentions, the human body, all nature consists of energy. These teachings come through the mind, and in my opinion for the majority of people remains a “belief system” . There are probably millions of people, and I would guess predominantly female (because females are stereotypically right brain, correlating to compassion, empathy, creativity, intuition, and spirituality) who can experience an energetic level, which is beyond time and space. And coincidentally, in Tantra, Shakti is the Divine Feminine and represents energy. This means that you can experience intention, thoughts, Spirit regardless of distance. We are all intuitive, but for many, they are born with a hypersensitive nervous system that picks up on energy beyond their own body – this is telepathy and other various forms of psychic ability. In day to day activity, it’s the reason why a female is more in tune with her environment and able to anticipate someone’s emotional state, and why many males (in general) seem to be oblivious to what’s going on. It really has nothing to do with how good/bad a person is, it really boils down to neuroscience and one’s capacity for perspective and awareness. It depends on where you start. Meditation increases intuitive capacity and can diminish arousal in the right parietal area, the same area for extrapersonal space, providing the experience of an individual merging with the external world – which is a bit spacy, and can be problematic if not properly grounded. However, some can meditate for 30 years and never get to the point that others are just being born. Everyone can play golf, but few will play like Tiger Woods. Anyhow, it takes increased sensitivity for intuitive ability, which causes alot of adjustments – many intuitives have ADHD because they’re constantly bombarded with external energy and have problems focusing, they take on the emotions of other people, they get sick alot from processing other people’s stressful emotions, they have to avoid crowds from the onslaught of extreme energy…etc
I just made a video on dimensions from Barbara Hand Clows interpretation and after reading all of the above I think it is the most simple way to understand Dimensions, there is lots of valuable insight above but it’s a little confusing, if you take all of that and apply it to this simple explanation (link below), I think it will all come together for you!!

Just a note for Julie Redstone, author of this article. Thank you for writing cogently, and with such direct and caring, as well as careful, language and understanding. I recently “wrote through” a dream I had in which the term 5th dimension spontaneously occurred to my recording brain to describe the “time-place-space; non-time-place-space” in which the images of the dream were “occurring.”
I am a beginning student of the Kabbalah and had a hunch that a discussion of the 5th dimension within the context of the Infinite Light and the Dimensions of Authentic Soul might help me parse the dream a bit more fully. Your article somehow reassures me that for all the outer uncertainties of life at the moment, a “messaging” from the Infinite Love can help us stay anchored in the journey. .. and have faith in it!
Yes the 5th dimension is achieved by engaging
the 4th pranayama described by Patanjali in verses 50-52
of the 2nd book. This raja yoga is a spiritual pursuit enabled by physical discipline in practice.
Spatial perception sets motion in the context of space, to provide a sense of motionlessness – a sort of reference to show how motion differs to it. For example, we typically regard motion as a change of position, a reference to something fixed. But as a consequence, motion is seen as a movement IN space when it is actually a movement OF space – a space in motion.
The spatially derived model of reality is based on how the dimensions differ to each other. Space is characterized by the difference between a plane and space. The planes set the context for the idea of space. The edges of a plane provide a context by showing the line where the plane ceases to be a plane. The difference between a line and a plane is what the concept of a plane is based on. To visualise a line, we give it ends. Each end of the line is a point and together they serve as the context for the line. They show the difference between a line and a point, and in this way they define the point at which a line ceases to be a line.
Successive dimensions build on lesser dimensions; for example, a line as a series of points. So, each dimension can be ‘placed’ within dimensions higher than itself, but not lower than itself. However, while this is clear for each of the dimensions leading up to the three dimensions of space, it is not so clear how time ‘contains’ its lesser dimensions. The problem is the spatially derived model of reality. We understand the passing of time to be in relation to the present moment, as if the ‘now’ has no duration. We supposedly experience a string of nows. However, it is only for sake of the concept that the passage of time differs to the present. The contrast does not reflect reality, but the setting of a context.
What the concept of time fails to take into account is that successive dimensions merge. They are not discrete. Each dimension carries within it the dimensions lesser than it. So, instead of focusing on how the dimensions differ to each other, we should look at how they differ in themselves. This reveals that the essence of a point is its location, the essence of a line is its alignment, the essence of a plane is its form, and the essence of a space is its density.
In considering how a motion differs in itself, one is tempted to describe it in linear terms: i.e. the path it follows. But this is not its essential quality, since a line has just one dimension, not four. Neither can we narrow it down to its location, form or density, though that which moves certainly has these characteristics too. But all these things being equal (imagine two identical movements side by side) there remains one characteristic which belongs solely to motion: its speed. This is how motion differs in itself – making speed the essence of motion.
The variable of speed is beyond the ordinary conception of motion, so we tend to regard it as inconsequential. But motion in the sense of speed is precisely how it ties in to reality. This can be observed in the shape of a wave. It is not simply that the form would not exist without motion, but that the variable of speed determines the variety of curves in a wave. A standing wave behind a rock in a stream is a good example of this principle: the water flows through the wave while the form expresses the various speeds at which the water is moving.
The whirlpool is a particularly good example because the dimensions are seen to be variables linked in a unified system. There is the alignment of its axis, the form of its surface, the matter it draws inward and, since a vortex rotates progressively faster toward its centre, the variable of speed. Placing a tiny pointer in a whirlpool can show the part played by motion. The pointer remains parallel to its original alignment, despite being carried around and around. This indicates that motion, rather than content, determines the form.
The concept of time fails to account for the diversity of change, since the division of time and space implies that change is restricted to the 4th dimension. However, assuming that change is the very essence of reality, rather than a mere aspect of it, it follows that the essence of each dimension is how that dimension changes. By setting each dimension in the context of change, the concept of time subsequently loses its significance as one of the dimensions, as such, separated from space. To subordinate the dimensions to the concept of time ignores the crucial point that each dimension finds its expression in change and that change is, moreover, what holds them together.
Having reinstated motion as the fourth dimension, it becomes apparent that time is also a generalisation of change. Just as we tend to regard motion in terms of its lesser characteristics, so too do we have an inferior perception of that other form of change called growth. Since growth depends on but is more than motion, it might be a higher dimension, with evolution as its essence. To address this proposition, the focus has to shift from the ontological to the ontogenetic, i.e. from what things are, to how they come to be.

While I may not agree with some of the points conveyed in this article, I have to admit this is one of the better articles on dimensions out there. It is very thorough and to the point and I have a better idea of dimensions now. Thank you.
